About Jason Cummings
Owner of Tasman Adventures
Tasman Adventures owner Jason Cummings has been working as a sailing instructor for over 20 years although he is still just a spritely 46 years old. Jason has been cruising his own boats all that time, starting with a 26ft Vertue that he sailed round Ireland and the Uk and as far as Portugal. He then sailed his Compass 28 around Sydney and got as far as Lord Howe Island in winter in her. Jason now sails a Cape Dory 330 out of Pittwater, and has sailed her across the pacific from California and circumnavigated both islands of NZ solo.
Jason has crossed the Atlantic twice, the pacific and the Tasman twice and has sailed upwards of 40,000 M. He has skippered the Sydney to Hobart race and skippered 4 trips to Lord Howe Island (2 as part of the Ocean Yachtmaster qualification for my crew).
Jason holds a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor ticket with Commercial Endorsement (+STCW95), and is a Safety and Sea Survival Instructor and a RYA Diesel Engine Mechanic Instructor. In the past Jason has worked for most of the sailing companies in Sydney and a few in the UK and Scotland, but now he has his own small company specialising in courses for cruising sailors. Jason can teach the full suite of RYA Courses(Essential Navigation through Yachtmaster Offshore and Ocean and Diesel Engine Maintenance and can also deliver the Australian Sailing qualification Safety and Sea Survival (this is done with the cruising instructor in mind more so than the S2H racer although I do both). Jason is accredited for and runs courses in:
Safety and Sea Survival (Australian Sailing accredited)
RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Costal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore as well as Ocean
Diesel Engine Maintenance (RYA)
General Maintenance (Winch servicing, electrics etc)
Radio License (accredited by the University of Tasmania)
